Sidey Myoo
Sidey Myoo (ORCID: 0000-0001-6163-4742), a scholarly alias that originates from the Second Life username adopted by Prof. Dr. Michał Ostrowicki in 2007, is a philosopher who works at the Department of Aesthetics at the Institute of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University and at the Department of Media Art Theory at the Faculty of Intermedia of Fine Arts in Krakow. His research interests include aesthetics understood as a theory of art, especially in reference to contemporary art, including electronic art. Since 2003 he has been analyzing the philosophy of networks and phenomena such as immersion, interactivity, telepresence, telepower, hybridization, immateriality, identity, and artificial intelligence. He stresses the importance of the development of technologies that create or transform the whole human world. In 2006 he introduced the concept of virtual realis (later: electronic realis), a term which formed the groundwork for ontoelectronics, an ontology centered on the analysis of electronic reality, considered as a sphere of being. The premise behind it is that the electronic environment is a kind of alternative reality, to which a person increasingly transfers their activities, while gaining a networked self. Sidey Myoo is the author of several research articles, monographs and edited works in philosophy and art. He has contributed to national and international scholarly events as well.
